Aurangabad, Oct 14:

The Nagrik Mitra Pathak of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today seized a stock of 657 kg of the plastic carry bag of less than 50 microns thickness and fined a city trader of Rs 25,000 for ordering the stock.

It so happened that the squad while patrolling in the Baba Petrol Pump area spotted that the trader was transporting the stock of plastic carry bags in an autorickshaw. They immediately stopped the vehicle, and during the checking, they found that the carry bags were being taken in the city for selling. The stock was of Gauri Plastics. As a result, the AMC squad levied a fine of Rs 25,000 upon the trader.

As reported earlier, the carry bags of less thickness pose problems when mixed with the regular garbage. They are hard to process. Moreover, the contractors had brought into the notice of civic administration that large quantities of plastic carry bags are seen in the regular garbage while processing at the Chikalthana and Padegaon plants.
