Aurangabad, Dec 28:

The district collector and the acting municipal commissioner Sunil Chavan today reviewed the preparations made by health administration (at urban and rural levels) to implement the programme and administer the Covid-19 vaccine, at the district collectorate today morning.

The municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar said, " The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will be conducting the special Covid-19 immunisation programme probably in the first week of January. We are expecting to receive the stock of vaccine, soon. The programme to impart vaccine is planned on the lines of election preparations. A total of 100 booths will be established in various parts of the city (including primary health centres) to administer the vaccine."

Under Phase I, the government directives are to administer doctors and paramedical staff (of all government and private hospitals), who had worked during the Covid pandemic situation. The remaining two phases will focus on giving the vaccine to frontline members (like NGOs, police, other staff who had worked in containment zones etc.) and the citizens ageing above 50 years. The registration is underway online. So far, 20,000 to 22,000 registration has been done. However, many more of them are yet to register their names. It is not mandatory to take the vaccine, but prevention is always better.

" I appeal to the doctors and paramedical staff to register their names in large number. The dry run in other states about the immunisation programme has started in some states. There are no complaints about the vaccine. Instead, it has the ability to combat even with the new variant of Coronavirus," said Dr Padalkar.
