Aurangabad, Jan 5:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has geared up to implement the Covid-19 vaccination successfully in the city. It will be establishing 118 vaccine centres and deploy 779 trained health personnel during the first phase of the programme, it is learnt.

The municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey today held a meeting with the Task Force Committee members and told them to ensure each centre is equipped with adequate facilities like electricity supply, drinking water, toilet, internet connection, parking, cleanliness etc.

Pandey suggested the ward officers select suitable locations to set up the centres with the help of Nodal Medical Officers in each zone''s jurisdiction. The Covid-19 vaccination programme will be implemented successfully as the AMC health section had the experience of implementing polio immunisation programme in the past. Pandey also hinted at acquiring private property or hotel, if needed to establish as a centre for the programme.

It is learnt that the union health minister will be interacting with all to share the guidelines about the programme through video-conferencing on January 8. Hence, all the task, including training and deployment of manpower, should be completed, before it.

The additional commissioner B B Nemane, municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar, WHO''s Dr Syed Mujeeb, all nodal medical officers, zone officers and representatives of various doctors'' association were in the meeting.
