Aurangabad, Dec 28:

The municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar today confirmed that the swab samples of two citizens, who were tested as Covid-19 positives after returning from the UK, had been sent to National Institute of Virology (NIV, Pune) for verification and detail reports.

" The reports are expected to receive in three to five days, from Pune. The reports will indicate whether or not they are infected by the new variant of Coronavirus and help us decide over the line of treatment to undertake upon these patients. Presently, the 57-year-old lady is undergoing treatment in S.N.Dhoot Hospital, while the 29-year-old youth is undergoing treatment at District Civil Hospital. So far, 47 citizens had returned from the UK since November 25 in the city. We had conduct tests of 25 persons, out of which, the above two are reported as Coronavirus infected.

Dr Padalkar elaborated," The AMC has established a Dedicated Covid Care Centre to treat these foreign-returning patients. The measures are taken so that these patients do not come in contact with other Covid-19 patients."

" There is no need for citizens to get panic. However, we could not deny the fact of the new variant that is detected in England. The best preventive measure to stay safe and secure is use masks, maintain physical distance and use sanitisers regularly," stressed Dr Padalkar.
