Justice S V Gangapurwala and Justice S D Kulkarni of the Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court today disposed of the PIL asking to start the MRI and angiography machines in the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The bench accepted a written statement of the dean that angiography facility would be available in a short time, and both MRI machines are currently working.
Syed Waheed Syed Aamir through adv S S Qazi filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that said, according to the information obtained through an RTI, the MRI machine is closed since November 2019 and the angiography machine has been closed since March 12, 2019. The bench had on September 15 directed the assistant public prosecutors to look into the matter. Assistant public prosecutor Sujit Karlekar presented the written statement of the dean in the bench. The statement said that an MRI machine has been running since October 9. Due to technical reasons, it was closed for 2-3 days. The MRI machine in the super-speciality ward is also working. The work of installing the angiography machine has been going on since September 25. As per the supplier, the Angiography services will be available in 3 to 4 weeks. The bench said that the PIL was being disposed of based on the statement made by a responsible person like the dean. The bench also noted that GMCH provides medical care to the poor, especially the low-income group. The MRI and angiography machines must be maintained so that people in the lower-income group can benefit from it.
