A 50-year-old daily wage worker, Chandrabhan Nemane of Ranjangaon, Waluj , sustained serious injuries after smashing his head at Kamal Gas Agency in Ranjangaon Shenpunji on Thursday, allegedly frustrated over not receiving a domestic LPG cylinder despite repeated visits.
Nemane had been told for several days that gas was unavailable. Around 1 pm, when again informed of no stock, he reportedly said, “What should I tell my wife?” before injuring himself on the premises. He questioned the 45-day supply norm, asking how labourers could survive without fuel. A crowd gathered as tensions rose. Waluj MIDC police rushed to the spot and admitted him to government medical college and hospital (GMCH). The incident video has gone viral. Locals alleged prolonged delays in cylinder supply affecting labour families. Police have registered a case and begun inquiry. Agency owner Manoj Kasliwal said rural second-cylinder refills take about 45 days; Nemane had booked the same day but faced prior waiting. “He demanded immediate supply, threatened suicide and suddenly hit his head. We alerted 112,” he said. District supply officer Pravin Phulari said companies have been directed to ensure additional supply and action will follow after review.
