Aurangabad, Jan 5:

Electric car maker Tesla Inc, will launch a project in India. According to sources, the company''s research and development centre may be set up in Bengaluru, before the launch of the production unit. However, industry fraternity here has asked the public representatives and state administration to make a more intense effort to bring this project to Aurangabad.

Last month, MoUs were signed for investing Rs 2 lakh crore in the state under Magnetic Maharashtra. However, only one of the company is investing in Aurangabad. Compared to other industrial estates, According to industrialists, Aurangabad has a good number of world-class infrastructure. With ample space available for industries, there is a need to take initiative for marketing in Aurangabad. Tesla is the leading electric vehicle (EV) maker. Our country has adopted a positive policy regarding the use of electric vehicles. Efforts are being made to bring a big EV company to Maharashtra. Guardian minister and industries minister Subhash Desai had a discussion with Tesla representatives to invest in the Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). According to highly placed sources of the industries department, Tesla''s research and development centre will be set up at Bangalore. Hence it will take mammoth efforts to bring its manufacturing project to Aurangabad. Sources also said that several states, including Karnataka, Gujarat, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, are in the race for Tesla.

Need for a task force like Karnataka

According to members of the industrial organisations said, the state government has given priority to electric vehicle manufacturing in its industrial policy. All industrial associations are making efforts in this regard, but lack political support. Now it is time that the local public representatives take initiative and bring Tesla to Aurangabad. The state must also set up a task force just like Karnataka to pursue companies looking to relocate from China after the pandemic. An investment like Tesla can help transform Aurangabad.
