Following the notification for the proposed Arapur Industrial Estate near Waluj, land rates will be finalized only after discussions with farmers. A meeting with farmers is scheduled next week, decided on Monday in a district officials’ meeting.

With no new plots available in Waluj MIDC and rising demand from entrepreneurs, the government plans a new MIDC over 752 hectares in Arapur, of which 752 hectares belong to farmers and 9.60 hectares is government land. Earlier, joint land measurement by authorities faced opposition from farmers, and two gram panchayats passed resolutions against providing land for MIDC. The Monday meeting, chaired by district collector Deelip Swami and attended by MLA Prashant Bamb, MIDC Regional Officer Amit Bhamre, and others, decided that land rates will be fixed only after farmer consultations. “Land rates for farmers will be fixed only after discussions. A farmers’ meeting will be held in Arapur next week.”
