Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: An indefinite hunger strike started by the members of Maharashtra Rajya Ashramshala Teachers and Non-Teaching Staff Association, Prahar Teachers' Organisation and the Marathwada Teachers' Association jointly in front of the office of the Regional Deputy Director ( Other Backwards Classes and Bahujan Welfare) on January 27 was called off, after the administration gave an assurance in writing.

The union started the agitation for their pending demands, including family pension for DCPS/NPS holders, arrears of the Seventh Pay Commission and benefits of senior and selection grades and medical reimbursements.

Taking note of this hunger strike, MLA Suhas (Anna) Kande (Nandgaon) and MLC Sudhakar Adbale took up the matter on the Government level through written letters. Taking note of the agitation, the Regional Deputy Director (Other Backwards Classes and Bahujan Welfare) invited the office bearers of the organisation for discussions.

Following the written assurance from the administration, the protesters withdrew their hunger strike after being offered juice by the Regional Deputy Director, Shaikh Jaleel.
