Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Republican Party of India (Athawale faction) opposes the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb, said union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale. Addressing the press at Subhedari Guest House during his city visit on Friday, he urged Hindus to maintain peace and avoid unnecessary controversy.

Athawale demanded a grand memorial for Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and urged the government to allocate Rs 500 crore for renovating People’s Education Society (PES) buildings, provide 100 acres for the "Earn and Learn" scheme, and permit a PES-run medical college. As PES chairman, he emphasized recognition of his leadership. He also pushed for Buddhist control over Mahabodhi Mahavihar in Bodh Gaya, announcing a Bihar tour from March 28-30 to meet CM Nitish Kumar regarding the demand. On Republican unity, Athawale said reconciliation with Adv. Balasaheb Ambedkar was impossible but expressed willingness to accept his leadership. He condemned the diversion of social welfare funds, demanded private-sector reservations, and urged stronger government action against injustices faced by Dalits, Buddhists, and Adivasis. Citing Somnath Suryawanshi’s death, he alleged police brutality and called for action. Athawale announced RPI (A)’s state convention in Thane on June 1. Senior party members, including Baburao Kadam, Milind Shelke, and others, were present.
