Sudhir Deshmukh (58), auditor of the Kannad Urban Co-operative Credit Society, was arrested on Wednesday for submitting falsified audit reports concealing financial irregularities for 2020–21 and 2021–22. Despite large-scale fraud, the society was shown as profitable and given an “A” grade. Loan account checks from April 2021 to March 2023 revealed crores in irregularities. The arrest was made by PSI Madhukar More and ASI Kuvarsing Thakur. The Economic Offences Wing, under SP Vinay kumar Rathod and ASP Annapurna Singh, continues to investigate.
