Aurangabad, Jan 12:

Here is good news as Aurangabad has been shortlisted for the India Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC) 2021 under Urban Mobility category.

The ISAC awards are constituted by the union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to recognise efforts taken by smart cities in various prescribed categories from August 25, 2020. My Smart Bus of Aurangabad has cleared the first round under Urban Mobility category. Aurangabad's Majhi Smart Bus is known to be one of the most affordable city buses in India, stated the press release.

The Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL). After a gap of many months, the bus service resumes from November due to the lockdown due to Covid-19 in the city. The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator A K Pandey, who is also ASCDCL's chief executive officer (CEO), took efforts so that maximum passengers could avail facilities of the Smart City Buses.

So far, ASCDCL has introduced new features like smart card (cashless transaction), vehicle tracking system, travelling at concessional or discounted fare etc. The passengers are also encouraged for a mobile app providing passengers information services (PIS), estimated arrival time (ETA) of buses, registration of grievances and redressal, route wise time table etc. The bus fares are affordable and travelling passes for one week, month and a quarter at concessional charges also impressed the passengers.

The ASCDCL had also completed construction of 100 modern bus shelters in the city. Apart from old routes, additional 50 buses are all set to ply on 20 new routes in the city. The Smart Bus is one of the most affordable public transports available in the city.
