Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Aurangabad Industrial City (Auric) has received a power distribution license and submitted a tariff proposal to the Maharashtra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC). As per the proposal, industries, businessmen, and residents of Auric will get electricity at 10 to 20 percent cheaper rates than MSEDCL. The administration of Auric aims to provide cheap, clean, and quality electricity to entrepreneurs in Auric.
License from MERC and talks with power generation companies
Auric has been granted a license by MERC to supply electricity to consumers in Shendra and Bidkin industrial belts under Auric's Delhi, Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). The administration of Auric has started purchasing electricity from various electricity-producing companies and implemented two separate feeders for the same. It is in talks with different power generation companies like solar power, hydro or wind power, and power generated from coal for power purchase. A proposal has been submitted to MERC to fix the electricity tariff, which officials of Auric claim will be 10 to 20 percent cheaper than the electricity rate in the state.
Solar energy to power Auric hall
Auric has decided to power Auric Hall through a solar system. The project is expected to cost Rs 5.90 crore and will have a capacity of 25 MW. Suresh Kakani, the managing director of Auric, has stated that this project will save the expected cost of electricity bills in three and a half to four years.
