During the strike called by auto rickshaw drivers in the city, the windows of several rickshaws were smashed in the Cidco area on Thursday. Between Kamgar Chowk and Shani Chowk, some protesters allegedly pelted stones at rickshaws that had not joined the strike, breaking their windows. Notably, vehicles carrying passengers were also targeted, triggering panic among commuters.

As vandalism began on the main road in Cidco, other rickshaw drivers following behind diverted their vehicles through internal lanes to avoid potential damage. Local discussions suggested that the attack was intended to intimidate drivers who had not actively participated in the strike. Due to the sudden violence, several passengers were forced to get down midway and walk to their destinations. Despite the tense atmosphere in Cidco, no official complaint or case had been registered at any police station regarding the incident at the time of reporting. It is learnt that the affected rickshaw drivers refrained from filing complaints out of fear.
