Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

The city transformed into a vibrant spectacle on Friday as people gathered to celebrate Holi with music, colors and camaraderie. DJ beats echoed through the streets, and revelers embraced the festive spirit, smearing colors on one another. Women also participated enthusiastically, adding to the joyous atmosphere.

The century-old tradition of taking out a grand Holi procession continued this year, starting from Rajabazar Sansthan Ganpati Temple. Six tractors, loaded with water drums, paraded through the city as youths from Rajabazar, Dhavni Mohalla, Jadhavmandi, Kirana Chawdi and Bhavaninagar actively joined in. The biggest colour splash took place at Shahaganj, Sarafa Road, and City Chowk, where processions from Begumpura and Rajabazar clashed in a friendly colour battle. Streets turned red and pink as participants drenched one another in colour, with some even playfully tearing clothes. The celebration lasted from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm, using 18 tankers and over 60,000 litres of coloured water.

Holi goes luxurious with organized events

This year saw a modern twist to Dhulivandan, with professionally organized Holi events featuring DJs, interactive games, and artificial rain. Families enjoyed a secure environment, while some events even offered mud pits for playful celebrations, though entry came at a price.

‘Bam Bam Lahari’ song dominates the festivities

Among Bollywood Holi anthems, the devotional song "Bagad Bam Bam Bam Lahari" emerged as the crowd favourite. From processions to housing societies, the Shiva chant resonated throughout the city, with many carrying Lord Shiva posters while dancing to the beats.
