An emergency meeting of the examination and evaluation committee was held this evening. The issue of Dr Amrutkar was discussed. The vice chancellor had appointed an enquiry committee headed by Dr Navnath Aghav under the section 48 (5) of the Universities Act. The committee submitted in today’s meeting that the voice heard in the viral audio clip in which a teacher was seeking money from the research student was that of Dr Amrutkar. Such acts bring bad name to the university and deans of all faculties, so BAMU should remove Dr Amrutkar as guide and sack him from the post of dean. All members present in the meeting unanimously supported this action.

As reported earlier, Dr Amrutkar had demanded an amount of Rs 60,000 from the student concerned for making arrangement for his viva. The administration had lodged a complaint against the dean with the Begampura police station. Dr Amrutkar was appointed dean in March this year and his entire tenure passed during the lockdown period.

In 2008, the then controller of examinations Dr M G Gumaste was sacked by the then VC Dr Nagnath Kotapalle for irresponsible behaviour. The answer-sheets of the university were found lying on the road then.
