The online and offline examinations for undergraduate and
postgraduate courses in Dr Babasaheb Amedbkar Marathwada University started from today. The ''offline'' examination was held smoothly, but students appearing the examination through ''online'' complained of facing inconvenience as according to them the question paper link sent by the varsity was not getting opened. Moreover, some students were shocked to receive a question paper of another stream online.
As reported earlier, the universities are conducting online and offline examinations on the directives of the Supreme Court. Acting upon the orders, BAMU declared the schedule to conduct UG and PG examinations between October 9 and 31.
Being the first day of the examination (morning session), some students were taking their exam by sitting at their homes, while some went to the college and appeared for the online exam. However, many of these students complained that the question paper''s link sent by the university was getting opened.
Surprisingly, in the city''s Navkhanda College, the link got opened, but the students received question papers from another stream. They were baffled and tried to contact the invigilator or college faculty etc. . However, they got disappointed as all of them told them to contact the university. There were few countable students who could not take the ''offline'' exam as they did not have their hall tickets.
It is learnt that some students reached to give ''offline'' exams at Chowka''s Ramdas Athawale Arts and Science College (in Phulambri), but they were sent away saying their college is not the centre. All said and done, the experience on the first day of examination was bitter for many students.
Earlier, the Bamu vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yevle had confirmed that there would be no academic loss of students. We will strive to overcome all technical hindrances coming in the way and conduct all the remaining papers smoothly, he had said.
A total of 1.64 lakh students from four districts had registered for UG and PG examination. For today''s morning session, 11,500 students had registered for the exam. Of which, 7,200 students gave online exams, while remaining gave the offline exam. The exam is being conducted at 330 centres in two phases between 9 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 6 pm, it is learnt.
Today, the vice-chancellor had contacted the principals of various colleges on the phone and learnt about the problems (if any) faced by them in conducting the exam and gave them necessary instructions. He told the principals to ensure that not a single student having a hall ticket should face any inconvenience.
" For every question paper, we had given four hours'' duration. If any student faces a technical problem while taking the online exam, then he should immediately contact the nearest college and give the offline examination. If there emerges any technical problem to him, then he should contact his college''s IT coordinator. All should take care that no student should remain from taking the examination," said the vice-chancellor.
