An externed accused and six others have been booked for allegedly attacking a police team with a knife and stone, assaulting personnel, and obstructing a raid on illegal activities at Amen Chowk in Bhavsingpura on Wednesday late night.

According to Chhawani police, the incident occurred at around 7.30 pm on February 25, when the police team, acting on a tip-off, reached the spot to verify the presence of externed accused Ishwar Chavan and take action against illegal activities. Police said Chavan allegedly called Sachin Tribhuvan, Vikas Bhalerao, Shakuntala Chavan, Anjali Chavan, Shila Tribhuvan, and Payal Tribhuvan, all residents of Amen Chowk, Bhimnagar, Bhavsingpura, to the spot. The accused allegedly formed an unlawful assembly, abused the police team, and obstructed them from discharging their official duties. During the incident, Ishwar Chavan allegedly attacked complainant Mahashankar Dandge (40, police constable), with an iron knife, while Sachin Tribhuvan allegedly attempted to assault him with a large stone. Chavan also allegedly slapped police constable Khan and bit police constable Suryavanshi on his left hand, causing serious injuries. The accused allegedly abused the police staff and issued death threats. Chhawani police have registered a case under relevant sections, and further investigation is underway.
