Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A woman accused of drugging railway passengers and robbing them during train journeys was arrested on April 26 at Secunderabad railway station in a trap operation under ‘Operation Yatri Suraksha’. Stolen valuables were seized.

The operation was conducted by the crime intelligence branch (CIB) of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Nanded division of south central railway, along with railway police. Over Rs 1.40 lakh in cash, gold ornaments, a black-and-white Nokia mobile phone, Aadhaar card, tablets, medicines and other items were recovered. The case pertains to an April 5 incident in the women’s coach of the Sainagar Shirdi- Kakinada Express between Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Parbhani, where the accused allegedly drugged a female passenger and stole around 50 grams of gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 2.5 lakh. Following the complaint, investigators identified the suspect based on the victim’s description and CCTV footage. The victim confirmed her identity from a photograph. The image was circulated to railway divisions in Bhusawal, Pune, Mumbai, Nanded and Solapur. On April 25, her mobile location was traced to Secunderabad, where she was detained by the RPF and later handed over to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar railway police for further investigation.
