With the wedding season in full swing, petty thieves appear to be targeting crowded ceremonies. In one such incident on May 1, gold jewellery and cash were stolen from a guest’s bag at Tirumala Mangal Karyalaya in Garkheda. A case was registered at Pundliknagar police station on May 3.
According to the complaint filed by Ritesh Bhosale (Nashik), who had arrived in the city on April 30 for his cousin’s wedding, he reached the venue around 7.30 am on May 1 and kept his bags in a room allotted to the bride on the second floor. Later, he found the bag’s chain open and discovered that a one-tola gold necklace worth Rs 1 lakh was missing. Additionally, Rs 18,700 kept in another bag in a separate room was also stolen. Jewellery and cash were taken from two rooms. Police have registered an offence and launched a probe.

Robbed after wedding photoshoot
In another incident, Chetan Jaiswal (Rahulnagar) was returning home on a two-wheeler (MH-20-ET-9876) with friend Rohit Gunjkar after completing a wedding photoshoot. Near Tiranga Hotel on Beed Bypass, while his friend had stepped aside briefly, three persons on an unnumbered motorcycle allegedly snatched Jaiswal’s bag containing a camera and equipment before fleeing. A case has been registered at the MIDC Cidco police station.
