Bhutan’s union Home Minister, Lyonpo Tshering, visited the world-renowned Ajanta caves on Saturday. He arrived at the site around 11 am and was welcomed in accordance with Indian tradition.

The minister carefully inspected Caves 1 to 26, expressing appreciation for the thousands-of-years-old carvings, intricate artwork and paintings that remain well-preserved. He praised the Archaeological Department of India, stating that the Government of India has maintained this World Heritage site remarkably well. He also learned about the detailed history of the caves from an official guide. After having lunch at the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation’s restaurant, he departed for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Notably, the visit concluded peacefully, with no traffic congestion in the Ajanta Ghat and no disturbance from bees inside the caves.
