Bike seizure triggers double murder in sleep

A notorious criminal from Sillod who com,mitted murder of his firend and friends brother in law when they were asleep were arrested on the same day. The incident occurred early Saturday at Champa Chowk in Jinsi.

The accused has been identified as Shaikh Asif (24). Asif killed his friend Shaikh Salman (30) and Salman’s brother-in-law Sultan Sheikh (17) while they were asleep, after police seized a bike linked to him. Salman and Sultan, both daily wage workers from Baijipura, had spent Friday together and were sleeping outside a relative’s house. Around 7 am, residents found their faces crushed beyond recognition. Police teams led by ACP Sudarshan Patil, PI Ganesh Tathe, API Gautam Wawale, and PSI Ganesh Mane reached the spot. Sultan had earlier borrowed Asif’s bike, which was seized by police on suspicion of being stolen. Upset over this, Asif blamed Sultan for the police inquiry. Around 12.30 am, Asif warned Salman’s cousin Zuber Khan that he would not spare Sultan.

Killed in 1 minute 50 seconds

Accordig to the police, Asif reached the spot around 6.15 am, tied a stone in a cloth, and smashed the victims’ faces. The assault was so brutal that their teeth and gums were dislodged.

Criminal record and arrest

Crime Branch officers, led by API Vinayak Shelke, arrested Asif from his home in Sillod. In 2016, he had avenged his brother’s murder by killing the accused and served six years in prison. He is also involved in multiple assault and robbery cases registered at the Jinsi police station and is known for theft and looting in Sillod.
