Aurangabad, March 10:

Angry BJP activists today staged a ' Thiyya Andolan' (sitting agitation) by locking the office of the water supply section of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), situated in the Cidco N-7 sector, for two hours. They were protesting against erratic and inadequate water supply in the Cidco N-7 sector. However, the agitation was withdrawn after the civic officials hinted at lodging police complaints against them. It is prohibitory to gather at one place due to the Coronavirus pandemic situation in the city. Meanwhile, the city engineer, S D Panzade held a meeting to review the water supply to Cidco sectors in the evening.

The water supply to the Cidco sectors becomes a core issue as the summer season aggravates every year. The water supply in various parts of Cidco had been disrupted for the past 15 days. Hence the BJP activists reached AMC's water supply office at Cidco N-7 sector today morning. They questioned deputy engineer Ashok Padme. Later on, the angry agitators locked the office and staged the agitation in front of the office. The AMC's acting executive engineer Kiran Dhande reached the spot and requested the agitators to open the lock and assured of resolving the water supply issue. The agitators refused to cooperate. Hence Dhande ordered the subordinate officers present on the occasion to go and lodge a police complaint. As soon as the officers left the place to file offence, the agitation was taken back.

Panzade held a meeting with civic officers and the BJP delegation today evening. He assured the delegation of resolving their issue soon.
