Aurangabad, Jan 17:

The Brahmin community has been fighting for justice for many years. However, the government is ignoring the demands. Hence the Brahmin Samaj Sangharsh Samiti is going to hold a Tamhan-Pali Bajav agitation on January 22 in front of the divisional commissionerate.

All the Brahmin organizations in the city will be involved in this agitation, informed the coordinators in a press conference held on Sunday. The coordinators said that the demands of the Brahmin community do not get the attention of any political party. Other parties are ignoring us thinking that we are BJP supporters, while BJP is also taking us for granted. We have given statements to all the political leaders in Maharashtra regarding the demands and have repeatedly followed up. However, the committee members said that they were staging a statewide agitation as the demands were not being met. Even after this, if the government does not take concrete steps, the next agitation will be more intense, the committee also warned. The coordinators of the committee Deepak Rananavare, Vijaya Kulkarni, Santosh Vyvahare, Pramod Bhalerao and Vijaya Awasthi were present.

Demands of Brahmin community

Economic survey of the society should be done, Rs1000 crore should be provided for the society by setting up an independent economic development corporation, separate hostels for boys and girls should be set up in every district, KG to PG education should be made free. Bharat Ratna award should be given to Swatantryaveer Savarkar and a monthly honorarium of Rs 5,000 should be given to priests.
