The city will host its first-ever Brahmin Mahotsav on May 14 and 15.

The festival is being organised on the occasion of Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti, the death anniversary of Shrimant Thorale Bajirao Peshwa, and the birth anniversary of Swatantryaveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar at Govindbhai Shroff Academy, S.B. College campus. On May 14, meritorious students of Classes 10 and 12 will be felicitated, with the main programme scheduled to begin at 6 pm. On May 15, a Marathi musical programme titled ‘Soor Taal’ by Nishad Deshmukh will be held. Entrepreneurs Rajendra Tondapurkar and Vivek Deshpande, captain Ashish Damle, chairman of Parshuram Economic Development Corporation, along with corporators, industrialists and businesspersons, will be present. The event is jointly organised by Akhil Bharatiya Peshwa Sanghatana, Brahmin Mahaadhiveshan committee and Brahmin Sakhi Manch. Organisers have appealed to citizens to attend in large numbers.
