Fuel shortages have severely disrupted the logistics sector, affecting drivers and transport businesses. Normally, around 2,500- 3,000 trucks enter the city daily, but current numbers have fallen to 1,750- 2,100. This decline directly impacts local industries, grocery supplies, and parcel delivery services. Traders report an average 5% increase in grocery prices.

Reduced truck availability has slowed the flow of goods to markets. Retailers are receiving supplies late, and wholesale-to-retail distribution has slowed. If fuel supply is not restored soon, the supply chain may face further stress, leading to higher prices and shortages. Traders and transporters have urged the administration to intervene immediately.

30% drop in Trucks: Truck movement into the city carrying various goods has fallen by 30%. While there are currently no signs of freight rate hikes due to fuel scarcity, truckers who have access to fuel may increase rates.

- Faiyaz Khan, President, Transporters’ Association

Buy Only What’s Needed: Consumers should purchase only essential groceries and avoid unnecessary stockpiling. Grocery prices have already risen by 5%, and further increases are possible due to limited fuel supply.

- Sanjay Kankariya, President, Zilla Vyapari Mahasangh
