Weekly Markets to be closed

While presenting the budget, the municipal Commissioner G Sreekanth on Wednesday announced that weekly markets at Chikalthana, Jafar Gate, and Shahanurmiyan Dargah will be closed. He explained that these markets caused traffic congestion, accidents, disputes, and significant uncleanliness. Henceforth, the concept of weekly markets will be discontinued. Vegetables will be sold in existing municipal vegetable markets, and new galas (shops) will be constructed at certain locations.

Focus on Comprehensive City Development

The municipal corporation G Sreekanth said, “The administration has prepared the budget keeping in mind overall city development. Soon, there will be abundant water supply, and new large industries are coming to the city. The budget emphasises using cutting-edge technology to improve municipal operations. Initiatives will also include environmental projects, tourism, and hawker zones, while financial resources will be strengthened effectively.”

The standing committee chairman Anil Makariye said,“The civic chief G Sreekanth presented a good budget on Wednesday, and I congratulated him in the meeting. After reviewing the budget, we will consider whether additional innovative schemes can be included in consultation with the standing committee members.”
