Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A case has been registered against a builder for allegedly selling nine out of 60 plotted sites twice to another person and executing a power of attorney, besides illegally transferring land reserved for the municipal corporation in the housing layout to his sister’s name. The offence was registered at Satara police station on March 10 against Sanjay Tulshiram Sonone (64), a resident of Laxminagar, Garkheda.

The accused Sonone had developed a layout of 60 plots on land in Gut No. 24 in the Vitkheda area. Ganesh Khebde (38), a resident of Padampura and an employee of the Public Works Department (PWD), had purchased Plot No. 10 in the layout in 2020.

However, in September 2025, Khebde learnt that Sonone had sold his plot along with several others and the open space in the layout to Imran Shaikh of Sillod.

According to the complaint, the original area of plots numbered 50, 51, 18 and 19 was fraudulently increased through forged documents and later transferred as a gift deed in the name of Sonone’s sister Jaya Sillodkar. Consequently, the area originally marked as reserved land in the 7/12 land record extract was reduced.

Further, Sonone allegedly executed a power of attorney in favour of Imran Shaikh Ahmed Sharif, covering certain plots, roads and the open reserved space, thereby cheating the government as well as the plot holders.

After obtaining documentary evidence, Khebde approached the police and filed a complaint. Assistant Police Inspector (API) Shailesh Deshmukh is conducting further investigation.
