Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Burglars broke into the flat of a motor showroom manager and stole valuables worth several lakhs, including around seven tolas of gold jewellery. The incident took place between May 2 and 5 at Pratyay Apartment in the Osmanpura area.

According to the complaint lodged by Kamalkant Gopalrao Deshmukh (59), a manager at automobile showroom on Jalna Road, his wife Madhuri Deshmukh had locked the main door of their flat at around 10 am on May 2 and gone to stay with her sister in Bhagyanagar.

On Tuesday at around 8 am, neighbour Rajeshwar Tipsetwar informed the family over the phone that the lock on their flat had been broken. Upon rushing home, the family discovered that thieves had stolen a 30-gram gold necklace, a 10-gram gold chain, two gold rings weighing 25 grams, a 7-gram mangalsutra, a 1-gram gold ornament, silver utensils including bowls, glasses, lamps, anklets, chains, traditional jewellery items, religious silverware, as well as cash worth Rs 4,000.

A case has been registered at Osmanpura Police Station. Further investigation is on.
