Thieves broke into the house of a woman who had travelled to Pune and stole gold and silver jewellery along with Rs 7,000 in cash. A case was registered at Jawaharnagar police station on Monday. Vanshree Padalkar, a resident of Ulkanagari, had gone to Pune with her family on February 28. On March 1 at around 9 am, their house help Valmik Mali called her after noticing that the house door was open. Padalkar returned to the city and found that thieves had broken the main door lock and ransacked the house. The accused fled with 11 grams gold earrings, silver jewellery worth nearly Rs 1 lakh, idols and puja materials, and Rs 7,000 in cash.
