A bus driver allegedly thrashed a nine-year-old boy for arriving late to board the school bus outside the school premises. Following a complaint from the family, the Chhawani police registered a case on March 5 against the driver, identified as Kasam, in connection with the incident that occurred on February 17.

A 35-year-old woman, the child’s mother, filed the complaint. According to police, the woman’s nine-year-old son studies at a government school at Nagarnaka. On February 17, at around 11.30 am, she had dropped her son near Mitmiti area to board the school bus as usual. However, when the child returned home at around 6 pm, he began crying. The boy told his mother that after school hours, when he went to board the bus, the driver questioned him for coming late and allegedly assaulted him, slapping and punching him on the head and back. The mother told police that the child is mentally challenged, and claimed the driver was aware of his condition but still assaulted him. Chhawani police are further investigating the case.
