Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A man died and two others were injured in a road accident involving two bikes and a bus at Babargaon Square on the Gangapur Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar road around 11.15 am on Monday.

The deceased, Bhausaheb Shelar (64, Chinchadgaon, Vaijapur tehsil) was heading to Solegaon with his wife on (MH 20 CB 4468) for a memorial meal. Near Babargaon Phata, another biker (MH-20-GD-9894), Somnath Borde (28), rammed into Shelar’s bike from behind. Both riders fell, and Shelar landed on the road. A bus from the Gangapur depot (MH-20-BL-2842) ran over him.

Shelar was taken to Gangapur sub district hospital, where he was declared dead. His wife Mandabai was thrown to the roadside and escaped major injuries. Somnath Borde was referred to GMCH for treatment. Shelar is survived by his wife and two sons. Gangapur police have registered a case. PSI Vitthal Jadhav is investigating.

Tragedy Before the Ritual

Shelar was on his way to attend a monthly memorial meal for his late father-in-law, who passed away eight months ago.
