Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
The much-awaited bus port proposed on the site of the Cidco bus stand has been stalled during the municipal election period, as building permission from the civic body is yet to be granted. As a result, the start of the bus port project remains uncertain, and the proposed relocation of the Cidco bus station to the Chikalthana central workshop has also been delayed.
The foundation stone for the bus port was laid on August 28, 2019. Nearly six years later, preparations to begin the work have finally started. Earlier, it was planned to shift the Cidco bus stand to the Chikalthana central workshop by the end of November. However, due to the pending building permission from the municipal corporation, the relocation was put on hold. Later, it was stated that the bus station would be shifted in the new year, requiring passengers to board buses from Mukundwadi Chowk instead of Cidco, but the permission is still awaited.
Work on BOT basis
The contractor for the bus port project has already been finalised. The project will be executed on a BOT basis, and work will begin only after building permission is received. The central bus station project will be developed on a PPP model, for which the tender process will begin soon.
Work to start after permission
Building permission from the municipal corporation is pending. Once the approval is granted, the Cidco bus stand will be relocated, followed by the commencement of the bus port work.
