Acting on a tip-off, the Local Crime Branch raided agricultural plot No. 94 at Mouje Pheran Jalgaon under Karmad police station limits on Monday and arrested Sanjay Hivarale (43).

Police found cannabis cultivated alongside a wheat crop. As many as 182 cannabis plants were seized. Additionally, 3.591 kg of dried cannabis was recovered from a sweet lime (mosambi) tree. In total, 34.209 kg of dried and green cannabis worth over Rs 5.31 lakhs was confiscated. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act. The operation was conducted under the guidance of SP Dr Vinay kumar Rathod and Additional SP Annapurnasingh by PI Vijaysing Rajput (Local Crime Branch), PI Samratsing Rajput (Karmad police station), PSI Mahesh Ghughe, Bharat Nikalje, Sachin Rathod, Santosh Patil, Sunil Gore, and chemical analysts Anushka Khair and Sakshi Rathod. Further investigation is underway by Karmad police.
