Two persons were injured after a speeding car crashed near a damaged bridge barrier and an open pit in the Ramnagar area on the Jalna Road late at night.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when the car (MH-20-GN-6085) was travelling from Mukundwadi towards Chikalthana around midnight. Near Ramnagar, the driver reportedly failed to notice the broken bridge barrier and the vehicle veered off the road, descending below the bridge. The car eventually struck a water pipeline beneath the bridge, preventing it from falling into the pit. The impact triggered both front airbags. The driver and the co-passenger sustained injuries and were admitted to a hospital. However, their identities had not been reported to the MIDC Police Station till late Saturday night.

Dangerous bridge and open pit

Residents said a deep pit exists below the Ramnagar bridge, where garbage and debris have accumulated. The incomplete bridge barrier makes it difficult for drivers to notice the pit, especially at night. As a result, accidents frequently occur at this spot, but no corrective measures have yet been taken by the concerned authorities.
