A young man has been booked for illegally flying a drone and filming in the prohibited zone around Jayakwadi Dam (Nathsagar), despite clear ‘No Drone Zone’ directives. The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Rural Police registered the offence on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Manoj Dehade (26, Padegaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar). Based on a complaint filed by assistant police inspector Dinkar Gore, a case was registered at Paithan police station. According to police, Dehade visited the Nathsagar area with friends on March 15 between 9.30 am and 10.25 am. He allegedly carried out drone videography without obtaining prior permission and later uploaded the footage on his Instagram account. Acting on specific information, API Gore and his team conducted an inquiry, following which the offence was registered around 6 pm on Wednesday. Head Constable Jivde is conducting further investigation. As per directives issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the state police administration, the Nathsagar reservoir and a five-kilometre radius around it have been declared a ‘Red Zone’. ‘No Drone Zone’ boards have been installed in the area. Police have warned that flying drones or filming without permission in such sensitive zones will invite strict legal action.
