CCTV footage has confirmed that the body of a 30-year-old man found near Oasis Chowk, Pandharpur, on Saturday morning was the result of a hit-and-run by a speeding travel bus at ORCC Chowk.

The deceased was identified as Vishal Mhaske, a resident of Vitthalwadi, Pune. His Aadhaar card and a paper with a vehicle number were found at the scene. Police contacted the vehicle owner, who confirmed Vishal had worked as a driver for them.

The body was earlier discovered in suspicious circumstances around 6 AM, leading to speculation over murder or accident. Sub-Inspector Arvind Shinde, API A.S. Borade, and Constable Kalyan Khamkar handled the initial investigation.

Based on a complaint by Avinash Sarkate, MIDC Waluj Police have registered a case against the unknown driver of the travel bus.
