Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Just a day after municipal commissioner G Sreekanth warned on Tuesday that cutters must be used instead of breakers to dig cement roads and that heavy fines would be imposed on concerned contractors and officials if cutters were not used the road in front of the municipal corporation headquarters was dug up using a breaker on Wednesday, which is noteworthy.

After spending crores of rupees, the municipal corporation administration has laid smooth cement roads across the city. Wherever roads need to be dug up for laying cables, drainage lines, water pipelines or for any other essential work, cutters must be used. Only the required portion of the road should be cut, and under no circumstances should breakers be used. These instructions were issued to municipal corporation officials just a day earlier.

On Wednesday afternoon, the road was broken to lay an electric cable from municipal corporation building No. 3 to the old building. This led to expressions of surprise even among civic employees regarding the manner in which the work was carried out.
