Aurangabad, May 30:

“The Central Government is giving step-mother treatment with non-BJP State Governments. Those States with a high ratio of Covid patients were supplied vaccines in low quantity while those with fewer patients were given more vaccine doses. Sometimes it seems that Narendra Modi is a Prime Minister of Gujarat than the whole country,” said Ashok Chavan, Public Works Department (PWD).

Addressing a press conference online on Sunday afternoon, Ashok Chavan, the former chief minister, said there is a great need for vaccines in the country while the Central Government is exporting to other countries.

He said that the BJP Government at the Centre talked much serious about the pandemic situation but had zero planning when it came to tackle it. “Considering the requirement of vaccines to a large number of population, the Central Government should have given permission to some more pharmaceutical companies if they are really worried about the safety of people,” he said.

Chavan said that Maharashtra does not get its share of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on time, and this has hampered development projects and created a financial crunch while handling the pandemic situation.

“PM Modi delivered only speeches and empty promises just to grab the power.

Nothing has happened beyond this during the last seven years. BJP leaders said the promises made in the elections were just for the polls. Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi pointed towards many mistakes while dealing with a pandemic situation, but the Government at the Centre ignored it. The notice of lethargic attitude in handling the situation was taken on a global level. Despite this, nothing happened,” he said.

On the performance of Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, the PWD minister termed Gadkari as the ‘right man at the wrong place.’ He said that Gadkari is in touch with all State Governments.

Over the point of Maratha reservation, Chavan said, “Devendra Fadnavis fooled people by doing reservation act when elections were near. The Marath Reservation Act did not stand in Supreme Court”.

Sanjay Lakhe Patil, Vilas Autade, Dr Kalyan Kale and Hisam Osmani were present for the online briefing.
