Aurangabad, Dec 20:

A Central Team arrived in the city on Sunday for the inspection of losses caused by wet drought in Marathwada region.

The team is inspecting two districts-Aurangabad and Osmanabad for the losses reported because of heavy rainfall in October month. A powerpoint presentation was given to the team at divisional commissionerate at 3 pm today on the damages.

Divisional commissioner Sunil Kendrekar, deputy commissioner (revenue) Parag Soman and other officers were present.

The team will interact with farmers in some tehsils and go through panchanamas, photographs done by divisional and district administration to estimate the losses.

The team will be divided into two groups. The first group will visit Nipani, Pimpalgaon in Aurangabad teshil, Gazipur, Nilajgaon, Shekta in Paithan, Murmi, Dhorgaon and Warkhed in Gangapur and interact with farmers on December 21.

In Osmanabad, the second group will talk with farmers at Keshgaon, Patoda of Lohora tehsil, Kakramba, Apsinga and Kantri villages of Tuljapur tehsil. The team will estimate losses of whole division from the two districts.

The crops losses were reported on 26 lakh hectares of land of 36 lakh farmers of the division

in the rainy season. The first instalment of Rs 1346 crore was already ready by the State Government.

The Central Government will release the fund after the inspection. The team comprises NDMA joint secretary Ramesh Kumar (head), deputy secretary of Rural Development Department of Central Government Yashpal, consultant to Finance Ministry R B Kaul, director of Department of Agriculture R P Singh, chief engineer Tushar Vyas and superintending engineer Mahendra Sahare.
