Aurangabad, June 6:

A thief snatched a gold chain of an old woman weighing one tola while she was brooming the yard at Sudarshannagar on Sunday at around 5.30 am. The woman showed alertness and hold the chain tightly. Still, the thief managed to snatch some part of the chain including a pendent and 6.5 grams chain.

According to the details, Shakuntala Bhimrao Arke (65, N-11, A Sector, Sudarshannagar) is a retired employee of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation Credit Society. On Sunday morning, she was brooming the house yard as usual at around 5.30 am. A youth of around 25 years old wearing black cloths came near her and snatched gold chain from the neck. She hold the chain tightly but he managed to snatch a pendent and chain weighing around 6.5 grams. She shouted for help, but the man had fled away till then. On receiving the information, DCP Nikesh Khatmode, crime branch PI Avinash Aghav, Cidco police station PI Ashok Giri inspected the spot. The thief has been captured in a CCTV footage, the police said. A case has been registered at the Cidco police station.
