Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “Looking at the political developments that took place yesterday and today after the untimely death of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the general public feels that the chair is more important than the person. I am only expressing that sentiment”, commented Sanjay Shirsat, the District Guardian Minister and Shinde Sena leader while speaking to the media persons here on Saturday.

He said that the public did not expect such swift developments after Ajit Pawar's death. “Now that Sunetra Pawar has taken the oath as Deputy Chief Minister, all issues will be resolved soon. She shouldn't have taken the oath so quickly. However, she must have taken this decision for some reason,” Shirsat said.

Minister Shirsat said that the general public feels that the oath-taking ceremony should not have taken place before the mourning period was over.

When asked about the discussions regarding the two NCP factions coming together, the Guardian Minister said that it seems that the winds of collective decision-making are moving away now. Shirsat reminded that Sharad Pawar had said that this would put an end to the discussions about the two NCP factions coming together.

Both NCP factions would have been part of Mahayuti

“The decision regarding the two NCP factions coming together has to be taken by their respective parties. There is no reason for Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis or our Shinde Sena party to oppose this,” he said. In response to a question about whether both NCP factions had come together, Shirsat said they would have become a part of the Mahayuti alliance.
