Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

In view of the scorching heat and the risk of heatstroke among students attending school, a decision has been taken to change the timings of primary and secondary schools under the Zilla Parishad in the district. As per the revised schedule, schools will now function from 7:00 am to 11:30 am. However, there will be no change in the timings of schools operating in two shifts, according to the directive issued by the school education department.

Orders in this regard have been issued to block education officers by incharge chief executive officer of the Zilla Parishad, Vasudev Solanke, along with primary education officer Jayashree Chavan and secondary education officer Ashwini Lathkar.

As per the directive, from April 18, due to the rising intensity of heat, there is a likelihood of students suffering from heatstroke. Keeping students’ health in mind, the change in school timings has been implemented from this date. Accordingly, schools operating in a single shift will function from 7:00 am to 11:30 am, while there will be no change for schools running in two shifts.

At the same time, as per RTE norms, there will be no reduction in the prescribed teaching hours. The teaching timetable will be finalised by the block education officers, and schools will function accordingly. Despite the reduced daily timing, schools will operate full-time from Monday to Saturday within this adjusted schedule.

No hindrance to student verification drive

The revised school timings will not affect the student verification drive scheduled on April 22. Proper planning of school hours should be ensured at the block education officer level to avoid any disruption, the order stated.
