Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Accused Amol Khune on Friday claimed that the case alleging a conspiracy to murder Maratha reservation leader Manoj Jarange Patil is false and was filed out of fear that he would expose Jarange’s alleged falsehoods. He also denied any connection with MLA Dhananjay Munde.

Addressing a press conference, Khune said he and Jarange earlier worked together in the Shivba organisation but later developed ideological differences. He claimed Jarange falsely accused him of plotting his murder by alleging that he acted at the behest of Munde. Khune said he has sought narco tests for both himself and Jarange and submitted a written request to the Jalna district collector. He added that he was granted bail after the charge sheet was filed. Khune pointed out that Munde’s name was not mentioned in the original complaint and that call detail records in the charge sheet show he had no communication with Munde. Questioning Jarange’s financial claims, he alleged that he had mortgaged his wife’s jewellery to fund Jarange’s sand business and that Jarange had borrowed large sums from several people without repaying them. Khune further said he has demanded an SIT probe and warned of a protest in front of the Jalna district collector’s office after February 19 if his demands are not met.
