Aurangabad, July 8:

Cidco has sent a proposal to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to supply 10 MLD of water daily to overcome water scarcity in Waluj. If the proposal is approved, the water problem in the Cidco area will be resolved and the citizens will be relieved of water shortage.

At present MIDC supplies 5 MLD of water per day to Cidco Waluj. MIDC charges Rs 16 per 1,000 liters of water to Cidco. The Cidco administration charges a surcharge of Rs 22 per 1,000 liters of water to citizens. However, water supply from MIDC is frequently cut off in case of technical failure and burst of waterline. As a result, the residents have to face water shortage. As water is being supplied every two days in the Cidco Waluj area, the citizens of this area have to face constant water shortage. Local public representatives and social organizations are continuously taking follow up to ensure abundant and smooth water supply. "With about 200 societies in the Cidco area, the 5 MLD water supply from MIDC is insufficient for these societies. About a month ago, Cidco submitted a proposal to MIDC to supply at least 10 MLD of water," said Kapil Rajput, executive engineer, Cidco.
