Armed robbers on triple-seat motorcycles are spreading fear across the city, striking repeatedly while police remain ineffective. On Monday evening, in just three hours, they attacked two people between Mukundwadi and the Cidco bus stand. One victim, who resisted, suffered knife wounds.

Sanawar Shaikh Anwar (24) and his friend Subhash Kharat were standing near PVR cinema in Mukundwadi when three men on a motorcycle snatched Subhash’s phone. Sanawar chased them, forcing them to drop the phone. But as he grabbed their bike, one of the robbers stabbed his left hand before fleeing. He received five stitches and later filed a complaint at the MIDC Cidco police station.

Another attack at Cidco bus stand

At 11:30 PM, a similar gang snatched a mobile phone from Ramesh Parameshwar Pasnur (54) at the Cidco bus stand. Witnesses described the robbers as young men, aged 18-25, well-built, around 5.5 feet tall, and riding mopeds. A similar robbery took place on February 15 near MGM, targeting a contractor.

Crime wave: 25 Robberies in two months

In the past two months, over 25 such robberies have occurred across Kranti Chowk, Vedantnagar, Jawaharnagar, Satara, Cidco, Beed Bypass, Deolai, Solapur-Dhule Highway and Waluj. The gangs, often riding sports bikes and mopeds, strike at night, disappearing before police can respond.

Police inaction raises questions

Despite mounting cases, police have made no arrests. Sources suggest senior officers are ignoring the issue, leading to a lack of action from local police and crime branch teams. With criminals operating freely, residents are losing trust in law enforcement, demanding urgent action to stop the growing menace.
