Mayor Sameer Rajurkar on Sunday said holistic and sustainable development of the city is possible only through active participation of citizens, industries and organizations.
He was speaking at a felicitation ceremony organised by the Team of Associations, where he and Standing Committee Chairman Anil Makariye were honoured in the presence of CSN First President Ritesh Mishra, CMIA Honorary Secretary Mihir Saundalgekar and other representatives. The Mayor said priority is being given to infrastructure strengthening, improved civic services and better urban management. Traffic measures on Jalna Road, including free left turns, are expected to cut travel time by 25%. Water supply projects have been accelerated, while gaps in the Development Plan, especially road planning, are being rectified. Steps are underway to improve solid waste management and explore new revenue sources. A structured hawkers’ policy, uniform shop signage and permanent marketplaces are planned for better urban discipline. Tourism promotion will include participation at ITB Berlin, 12 heritage walks and a tourism committee. Speakers also called for a Citizen Charter to ensure transparency and timelines in development works. The event reflected stronger coordination between the administration and city associations.
