Civic body seals properties to collect pending property taxes

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The municipal corporation administration has launched an intensified drive to recover property tax dues, with several zone offices initiating strict action on Wednesday.

Under Zone-5, a trader at Connaught Market with outstanding dues of ₹14.78 lakh had his shop sealed. Similarly, under Zone-2, a shop in the Singapore Complex was sealed over non-payment of dues.

So far, Zone-5 has recovered ₹28.96 crore in property tax, the highest among all zones. It is followed by Zone-7, which has collected ₹25.60 crore.

The total property tax collection by the civic body has reached ₹190.18 crore, while water tax recovery stands at ₹18.45 crore.

The administration has indicated that the recovery drive will continue, and strict action will be taken against major tax defaulters.
