Civic school students to take part in satellite launch at Rameshwaram

Aurangabad, Jan 14:

Here is good news as ten outstanding students studying in Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) schools has been selected to participate in the launch of 100 Femto Satellites from Rameshwaram, on February 7, 2021. The programme Dr A.P.J Kalam Space Research Payload Cubes Challenge - 2021 is organised by A.P.J Kalam National Foundation's Space Zone India.

Under the guidance of the municipal commissioner A K Pandey, the names of shortlisted students are Sonali Yadav, Suraj Jadhav, Vishal Wahul, Gulnaz Syed, Rani Chopade, Nandini Mote, Pratima Mhaske, Sahil Kedare, Irshad Khan and Rupali Gaikwad. They are students of AMC schools at Priyadarshini, Harsul, Mukundwadi, and Cidco N-7.

The Foundation's Milind Chaudhary and Manisha Chaudhary are coordinating with the civic school students, who are presently undergoing online training (satellite classes). The imparting of knowledge is made in the Marathi language for the convenience of students. These selected minds will also get hands-on experience to assemble the satellite and participate in the launch of Femto Satellites.

It is a world record event of launching 100 Femto Satellites in a single high altitude scientific balloon which includes three world records - Asia Book of Record, Indian Book of Record and World Book of Record. The mission is to ignite Young Minds to work on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) knowledge and skills are seamlessly combined with applying in the design and development of Femto satellite.

The civic officials including the deputy commissioner Sumant More, education officer Ramnath Thore and cultural officer Sanjeev Sonar are guiding the AMC team comprising Shashikant Ubale (coordinator), Urmila Lohar, Sangeeta Tajwe, Sampat Idhate, Surekha Mahajan and Rashmi Honmute.
