Aurangabad, Nov 14:

The classes in engineering colleges across the State is likely to begin in New Year only. It may be noted the classes in the Engineering institutes generally start in August every year. However, this time around, the whole academic calendar was disturbed due to the spread of Novel coronavirus.

The State Common Entrance Test Cell (SCETC) conducted the MHT-CET twice for engineering admissions because of the pandemic virus. Desk officer of SCETC S K Mahajan said the result of the test would be declared on or before November 28.

After the result, objections will be invited from students and centralised admission process rounds will be held. The process will complete in December, so, the classes will commence in the first or second week of January.

S K Mahajan said that the planning of CET for admissions to different courses was disturbed because of lockdown.“The MHT-CET was held in two phases. The students appeared in the first phase from October 1 to 20.

Many students were unable to take the test because of flood, heavy rainfall and power failure in Mumbai. These students were given another opportunity on November 6 and 7. The admission process will commence soon after the result is announced,” he asserted.
